Both the Patta and Citta gets issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu and in 2015, the government merged the Patta and Citta into a single document with the required information available on the Patta.

- Thirdly, select your district, taluka, and village and select one from Patta or Survey Number and fill the CAPTCHA code and click “Submit“. (For rural areas)
- Enter your district, taluka, city, ward, block, survey number, subdivision number, and click on “Submit” while filling the CAPTCHA code.
- The Town Survey Land Register checks the details and will issue a certificate online with a specific property or land information. It will include information such as type of land survey number, locality, municipal gate number, and other information.

- Secondly, from the homepage go to the “View Patta Copy / A-Register Extract” option

Is it important to have a Patta?
It is important to have a patta certificate to prove that the person possesses the ownership of the land or property. Patta certificates can help resolve the disputes related to land or property.
How can I transfer the Patta certificate?
The legal heir has the right to transfer the Patta in his name in the event of the death of the owner of the land or property in the absence of the will. In the event of a will by a deceased person, the beneficiary can transfer the Patta in his name with the consent of others. For Instance: Someone buys a property and gets the registration done. The title of the property gets transferred partly. The government comes up with two types of ownership. The first one is through registration and the second one is through the revenue department.
After registration, the revenue department will be recorded in the property revenue record and issue a document for that (that is patta). Moreover, this patta is the owner entity of the property.
Note: The Tamil Nadu government did not issue Chitta until 2015. At that time Patta and Chitta were merged into one document with all the relevant details mentioned in the Patta.
