IIT full form is the Indian Institute of Technology. It is one of the most premier and prestigious Engineering Institute in India. It is an autonomous institution provides higher education on engineering and research in various category.

It was first inaugurated by Ex-Prime Minister Late Jawaharlal Nehru in 1951. The first IIT in India was IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal. Gradually in different parts of India new IITs were built.

Since 1951, IITs in India play an important role in technology, research, and manpower. The students who get selected for these institutes are one of the top meritorious students and play an important role in the countries technological revolution.

Students who passed from IITs get jobs in reputed MNCs like Google, Facebook, and Microsoft with millions of packages/year. Due to the lacking infrastructure in India, students from IIT prefer to go to the US as it gives them a luxury life with good career growth.

Courses in IITs

IIT conducts various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in branches such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Architecture, and Planning, etc.

For post-graduate IIT conducts an exam called GATE(Graduate aptitude test), if you qualify GATE exam, then only you will be able to join the Master’s Programme in IITs.

Apart from these courses on engineering, it also provides courses on postgraduate in Science(M.Sc), in arts(M.A) on various subjects.

Admission in IITs are conducted through a common entrance exam called JEE(Mains+Advance) for undergraduate courses. JEE exam is regarded as one of the toughest engineering exams in India.

Currently, there are total 13,376 seats are there in all IITs. Out of that maximum seats are providing by IIT Kharagpur(1342).

How to get selected in IIT exam

To be an IIT engineer, once need passion, dedication and hard work. Missing any of this can lead to failure. Every year, more than 1.5 million student appear for IIT JEE exam, but only few get selected finally. Hence, If you are looking to preapare for IIT exam, then start your preparation from class 10th onwards. This is the best time that a student can start preparation without any headache.

As you go to class 11th, there will be pressure from attendence, lab classes and all. So, better join a college which focus more on entrance exam than on other things. This helps to focus more on your main subjects.
